Pulau Perhentian Kecil ( Small Stop Over Island, Long Beach ) 2006

This is probably our most favorite island in Malaysia. Perhentian Island divided into two islands, the small and the big one. The small island situated approximately 20km from the mainland of the east coast of Malaysia and it is a very popular destination amongst hippies, writers, musicians and backpackers from all over the world. We love the small island because of it's laid back atmosphere, non - posh accommodation, amazing beach, lush green area and of course the charming fisherman village and the friendly inhabitants. This is the paradise only for the people who want to escape from all the modernity and hustle bustle in the city and go back to a basic lifestyle. Yeahhhh!!!!

Melaka October 2007

Melaka is one of the smallest states in Malaysia, and it has been listed as Unesco World Heritage Site in 2008. Melaka used to be one of the most important port in the world many years ago because of it's strategic location in the Straits of Melaka. It is the home to the early Malay Sultanates and the 'Peranakan' ( Chinese who married to Malays ) and it is rich with cultural heritage, proud traditions and the mixed ethnic community. During many years back Melaka had been colonized by the Portuguese, the Dutch and the British. For many years Melaka has always been one of the favorite destination for the international visitors and the locals too.

We love this picture and it always makes us smile by looking at it! That is me, my niece Liyana, my nephew Zikri and our little friend Juju the cheeky mouse! Without any hesitation wifey, me, my sister and her two lovely kids and my respectful brother in law hit the highway and drove straight to the historical state Melaka to travel back through time and learn a bit about it's history. It took about 2-3 hours drive from Kuala Lumpur to get there.

A Famosa fortress. Me try to absorb all the 'aura' of the surrounding area. The fortress was built by the Portuguese in 1511 and it is one of the oldest European architectures that still remains in Asia.

The infamous Melaka decorated 'trishaw' ( rickshaw )whatever people want to call it. it is fun and colorful. Love it!!!

This is a replica of one of the Portuguese ships in the 1500. I think it becomes a mini photo museum now.

The Christ Church Melaka is a Protestant church built by the Dutch around 1700. So colonial and kinda eerie because of it's red painted color.

This is an open Malaysian style food court consisting of many different type of small restaurants that served colorful, rich with flavor, delicious meals with very reasonable price. Most of the restaurants served authentic Malay, Chinese, Indian food. It is situated just 20 minutes drive from the center of Melaka Town.

Tenggol Island Malaysia 2007

Tenggol Island is located on the east coast of Malaysia and it is only about 26km boat ride from the mainland. It is one of the best island to dive and snorkel in Malaysia. Tenggol Island is very small with a beautiful beach and surrounded by lush tropical jungle. We were there for three days just to do nothing. Another well kept paradise of Malaysia.

What else can you do when you in a small remote island, you only need a book, a hammock, few palm trees and a beautiful beach. Perfect!

Lang Tengah Island Malaysia 2007

Lang Tengah Island is one of the smaller islands on the east cost of Malaysia. The size of the island is perfect for relaxation and for the visitors who are seeking for tranquility. This island has no paved road, no vehicles and it is similar like many other small islands on the east coast of Malaysia. Visitors can only walk through small path in between trees and bushes if they want to get around the island. It will surely make the visitors feel disconnected from the city life. Lang Tengah has a nice white sandy beach, crystal clear water, palm trees and untouched tropical jungle. We stayed there for three days and really enjoyed the beauty of the island. Welcome to paradise!

Hehe this is what I like about my beloved country Malaysia. We are still maintaining the shabby and old school jetty even though we are living in the new millennium. Never forget the roots! Hopefully it will never change! Malaysia Truly Asia, bagus lahhh!!

KL Ramadhan month 2007

Ramadhan Al- Mubarak. A holy month that all muslims have been waiting for. All muslim 'adults' that are 100% healthy physically and mentally have the obligation to perform 'fasting' during day time from dawn until the sun is setting down. Ramadhan month is like a reminder to all muslims that we need to learn to be more patient, positive, humble, modest, self discipline, be respectful and try as best as we can to practice all the good human values and apply it in our daylife. It reminds us as well to be generous and be empathy for those who are less fortunate by doing a charity work or give donation to the needy one throughout your whole life. Happy fasting to all my muslim friends.

People can find thousands of Pasar Ramadhan (Ramadhan Food Market) across the country. This one is in Bangsar and it is just 15 minutes by scooter from our apartment. We love it because of the colors, smells and the diversity of food here. It is not just muslims who buying the food, but there are many thousands of other religious belief like christian, hindus, buddhist, sikh,shinto, jewish, atheist you name it......etc go out and enjoying this moment to experience the food market because of the variety of food the hawkers can offer the customers. One thing that I love about Malaysia, that we celebrate most celebrations together no matter who you are. That is how it suppose to be, religious fascist will not be tolerate!

My lovely wife dressed like a true Malay woman with our traditional 'Kebarung Songket' during Hari Raya Aidilfitri. I love it when you put that dress on.

Kuala Lumpur Birdpark 2007

Kuala Lumpur Bird Park is the largest covered bird park in the world. It has many different species of birds from all over the world.

Bird and nature lovers can have a wonderful day watching colourful sights and listening to melodic sound of the birds singing freely in harmony. Visitors will enjoy the nature and the beautiful landscapes surrounding the bird park.Sometimes you'll be surprised to come across miniature gardens, pools and water cascades, bridges, green plants .....and the bird - feeding stations. Oh yeah, it is really humid inside the bird park, so it would be ideal just to wear  t-shirt and short pants. A trip to this bird park is a must if you are in KL, since it's situated in the city center.

Birds are just all over the places, try not to come to close to them, because they can be a bit aggressive if they feel threaten. Even though the birds live under captivity, they still consider wild birds.

Bangkok August 2007

Bangkok the capital of Thailand is a modern metropolitan that can offer tourist so much if you know what to find. We were there for a week and we really enjoyed it. In the middle of Bangkok lies the mighty Chao Praya River which is the soul of the city and sacred to many locals. Bangkok has so many awe-inspiring and glittering temples and palaces like no other places in the world. The variety of market are just splendid and more than enough to satisfy your hunger for shopping. The unique culture and tradition, friendly inhabitants and delicious world renowned cuisines makes it really hard to resist for tourist to not to come back again and again. Welcome to the City of Angel!

This is Wat Pho temple, which is famous for its huge reclining buddha. It is the largest temple in Bangkok. Stunning!

Chatuchak Market in Bangkok. We definitely need a GPS to explore this huge market next time hehe..... You need at least 2 days to explore every corner of the market. There are tones of variety of different things you can buy here ranging from clothing, craft, painting, gadget, food, furniture and the list is endless........ we love it!!!
